This content describes how to install and use DataMigrator to stage
data for analysis with WebFOCUS and other purposes. It is intended
for users responsible for transforming data by designing and
executing data and process flows.
DataMigrator is a suite of software components that automates the
process of building and maintaining a data warehouse or data mart.
Using DataMigrator, you can perform actions, such as:
- Access source data in numerous formats and operating systems.
- Integrate multiple data sources into a single target or multiple data targets.
- Apply powerful data cleansing rules and transformation logic.
- Monitor and manage key server functions.
Key Features
The following new features were introduced in Release 7708:
- Data Profiling With Forecast Chart Option. A new option has been added to further enhance data profiling. The new Forecast feature allows data profiling on numeric
fields, and displays both the actual data values and the forecasted values in a bar chart.
- Extended Bulk Load. EBL is now available on the adapter for Salesforce.com, making it the very first non-SQL adapter with this capability.
- Modernized GUI. The Data Management Console has been updated to a new, more modern GUI.
- Kerberos Enhancement. This enhancement allows you to log in to your PC with your credentials, and then connect to our server without having to
enter them again. This release has simplified how a Kerberos connection takes place. Now, instead of having to create a profile
that contains your Kerberos credentials, you can connect to our server through a browser and then connect outbound to Hive
(or other JDBC based adapters), using the same ticket.
- Git Support. Git, a Distributed Version Control System (DVCS), is now supported by the DataMigrator Server. Git can be used in the Reporting
Server Web Console and in the Data Management Console.
- Cluster Manager Integration. DataMigrator has been updated to include the Cluster Manager (CLM). The addition of CLM to DataMigrator results in a highly
available DataMigrator scheduler that automatically switches to other application servers in the event that the main server
is unavailable.
