Creating URLs

How to:

Authorized users can create URLs to webpages and store them within the repository. These URLs can further enhance analytics, providing an additional interactive context to your data. You can run a URL in a new tab, use it in a dashboard, and add it to a personal page. If your URL is optimized for use in an iFrame, you can embed it within a container on a page. You can also publish and share a URL to make it available to other users and groups.

Procedure: How to Create a URL

  1. In the Resources tree, right-click a domain or folder, point to New, and then click URL.

    The Create URL dialog box opens.

  2. Populate the Title field, type the URL to your selected webpage in the URL field, and then click OK.

    The URL appears in your selected location in the Resources tree.

Procedure: How to Embed an iFrame-Optimized URL in a Portal

  1. Copy an iFrame-optimized URL from the web, as shown in the following image.

  2. In the Resources tree, right-click a domain or folder, point to New, and then click URL.

    The Create URL dialog box opens.

  3. Populate the Title field, and paste the copied URL in the URL field.
  4. Remove any iFrame related syntax that surrounds your URL, as shown in the following images.
  5. Click OK to close the Create URL dialog box.

    Your URL item is complete and ready to be displayed in a portal.

  6. In the Portal Designer, on the Insert tab, click WebFOCUS Resources.
  7. Drag the URL from the repository onto a page.

    The URL content displays perfectly within the container, as shown in the following image.
