This content describes how to use the Web Console to configure, operate, monitor, tune, and troubleshoot the Reporting Server.
It is intended for server administrators, database administrators, and application developers.
The following Key Features are introduced in Release 7709/8205.
New Adapters
-
Adapter for Snowflake Cloud Data Warehouse. Provides JDBC access to data stored in the Snowflake Cloud through SQL query operations.
-
Adapter for Stratio Crossdata. Provides access to data using the Stratio JDBC driver.
-
Adapter for Microsoft SQL Server Analysis Services Tabular Data Model. Provides access to Analysis Services data sources that are deployed using the Microsoft SQL Server Analysis Services Tabular
protocol, whose underlying architecture is an in-memory columnar database.
-
Adapter for Python. The Adapter for Python defines a connection to the Python interpreter for executing user-written Python scripts that generate
calculated fields (WebFOCUS Computes). These fields can be used in WebFOCUS Workbooks, WebFOCUS InfoGraphics, charts, reports,
dashboards, and WebFOCUS portals.
Enhancements to Existing Adapters
-
Adapter for REST. The OAuth 2.0 authentication protocol for granting access to REST APIs is now supported for the Adapter for REST.
-
Adapter for Delimited Files. The synonym creation parameters screen for delimited files now provides an option for indicating the number of rows that
need to be skipped before the header row.
-
Adapter for Microsoft SQL Server OLE DB. The configuration page for the Adapter for Microsoft SQL Server OLE DB now has a text box for adding additional connection
keywords.
-
Adapter for Excel. Synonyms can now be automatically created in a crosstab format for data in Excel Worksheets.
-
Adapter for Salesforce.com. Bulk Query can now be enabled for the Adapter for Salesforce.com, providing a more efficient way to query large data sets
and reduce the number of API requests.
Server
-
Data Type Icons. In the Web Console and Data Management Console, field names are shown with an icon that identifies the data type of the field.
-
Upload Target Parameters. You can implement default targets for the Upload Wizard, Quick Copy, and Custom Copy.
-
Group and Replace. A new Group and Replace option is available in the Synonym Editor for creating group fields.
Data Management
-
Built-in Statistical Python Functions. From a WebFOCUS COMPUTE command, you can call newly built-in Python scripts, that perform classification and regression using
several techniques.
-
Data Management Console. New functions, such as median and mode, are available.
-
Improved Optimization of MATCH Logic for SQL Adapters. Streamlined SQL is now generated for MERGE requests against those adapters, such as Spark, whose INSERT statement does not
support a list of columns.
-
New Functions. New functions COALESCE. COMPACTFORMAT, INITCAP, GET_TOKEN, GIS_REVERSE_COORDINATE, and NULLIF have been added.
-
IF-THEN-ELSE Logic. IF-THEN-ELSE logic is now supported within an expression.
-
Abbreviated Numeric Format Options. Display options, such as K, have been added for displaying numeric values in an abbreviated format.
Resource Analyzer and Resource Governor
-
New ACI Monitoring Report. New report provides information about changes to the server configuration files and user application files.
-
Data Source Column Drill-Down Report. A new report that is available from a Data Source column drill-down displays the columns from the SMFROMS segment that are
relevant to relational data sources.
-
New Repository Load Type Options. Resource Management now allows you to indicate the load method that will be used to add log data to the data repository.
